About T.A.E.I.L.

Updated: August 2026 | Prepared by A.N.G.E.L. — v2.2 (Canada Phase 1)

Core message

T.A.E.I.L. is a pre-registration Canadian not-for-profit building a global community around death, grief, remembrance, preparation, celebration, and mutual care.

The central idea is simple: build the community that should have always existed.

He who would teach men to die, would teach them to live.

— Michel de Montaigne

Death gives meaning to our lives. It gives importance and value to time.

— Ray Kurzweil

So long as we are being remembered, we remain alive.

— Carlos Ruiz Zafón, The Shadow of the Wind

What T.A.E.I.L. is

T.A.E.I.L. is what social media should have been: a community built around the things that actually matter, governed for people rather than extraction, and designed with wellbeing at its centre.

In one line

T.A.E.I.L. is a pre-registration Canadian not-for-profit building a global community for grief, remembrance, preparation, celebration, and mutual care.

Who it is for

  • The bereaved — people who need somewhere to remember, grieve, celebrate a life, and find others who understand.
  • People approaching death or living with isolation — people who need a trusted community that helps them prepare and reduces the risk of practical and emotional abandonment.
  • People who want to leave love behind intentionally
  • People who care how organisations are run

What members will be able to do

Members will be able to create a Sanctuary/Memorial, leave future-delivered messages through Message from the Afterlife, return treasured memories as recurring joy through Cherished Moments, reduce confusion after a death through The Passing Notification Network, and prepare practical information in advance through When the Time Comes.

Why it is different

T.A.E.I.L. is being designed as a permanently not-for-profit, mission-protected enterprise with no shareholders, no equity investors, no dividends, and no conventional startup-style exit.

A not-for-profit, deliberately not a charity

T.A.E.I.L. is choosing to operate as a Canadian federal non-profit without seeking registered-charity status. This is a deliberate choice, not a gap: it is meant to demonstrate that an organisation can care seriously about society and the people it serves without depending on charitable-tax status to prove its intentions. Membership is a direct exchange of belonging and future service, not a tax-motivated gift.

Membership That Anyone Can Afford

T.A.E.I.L. is being built so that anyone who wants to belong, can belong.

Standard membership begins at just CAD $12 a year — CAD $1 a month — because access to remembrance, preparation, and community should never be reserved only for those who can afford more.

But membership is not free to provide. Running T.A.E.I.L. responsibly costs real money: safeguarding, moderation, hosting, and the people who keep it all running with care. So alongside that floor price, we intend to publish our estimated real cost per member — openly, so everyone can see what it actually takes to sustain this community.

If you choose a higher membership tier, you are not buying anything extra for yourself. You are helping make membership possible for someone who cannot afford more than the floor tier — a griever without savings, a family in another country with less economic security, someone who needs this community most in the moment they can least afford it.

That is the kind of enterprise we are trying to build: one where belonging is never priced out of reach, and where generosity quietly carries inclusion forward.

What T.A.E.I.L. believes

  • Community before profit
  • Safeguarding before growth
  • Transparency before polish
  • Hope-led communication rather than fear-led marketing
  • Cross-cultural respect without flattening differences
  • Fair, dignified compensation as part of enterprise ethics

Safeguarding comes first

T.A.E.I.L. will not open to members until safeguarding foundations are in place.

Current public status

T.A.E.I.L. is currently in a pre-registration, pre-incorporation, and pre-launch build phase, with its confirmed legal home in Canada.

T.A.E.I.L. is being built to help people carry death, grief, memory, preparation, and love with more honesty, more structure, and more community than most systems offer today.

This About page is aligned to the Canada Phase 1 legal structure and current Founding Brief, Homepage, Support Us, Founding Membership, and Platform Features documents as of August 2026.
