Privacy Policy

Updated: August 2026 | Prepared by A.N.G.E.L. — v1.1 DRAFT (Canada Phase 1)

This Privacy Policy is a pre-incorporation draft for T.A.E.I.L.’s current public informational website. It is pending Canadian legal review and is not yet legally final.

Our current status

T.A.E.I.L. (The Afterlife Eternal: Immortal Legacy) is a pre-registration Canadian not-for-profit social enterprise in a pre-incorporation, pre-launch build phase.

This policy describes how personal information is currently handled in connection with the public T.A.E.I.L. website. Until T.A.E.I.L. is formally incorporated, references to “we,” “us,” and “T.A.E.I.L.” refer to the founders acting for the project. We intend to update this policy after incorporation and the appointment of a formal Privacy Officer.

This policy applies to the current public informational website at taeil.life and www.taeil.life. It does not apply to a future member platform, Sanctuary/Memorial service, crowdfunding campaign, payment service, newsletter, member directory, or community service that is not yet operating.

What information we currently collect

The current public website is designed as a pre-launch informational site. It does not currently provide public account registration, member login, a public contact form, newsletter signup, online payment, donation collection, crowdfunding checkout, or membership purchase.

We may receive personal information when you choose to contact us directly by email. This may include:

  • Your name, email address, and other contact information you provide.
  • The contents of your message and any attachments.
  • Information you choose to share about an enquiry, partnership, advisory interest, or other relationship with T.A.E.I.L.
  • Technical email information that ordinarily accompanies an email message, such as date and time, sender/recipient details, and message-routing information.

Our hosting provider may also process technical information needed to deliver and protect the public website, such as an IP address, browser or device information, requested pages, date/time information, error records, and security or server logs. We do not currently have a verified account-specific record of all hosting-provider log categories, locations, access arrangements, or retention periods.

Browser storage and cookies

The current website uses browser local storage to remember the appearance and accessibility preferences you choose, including light or dark mode and a selected colour or presentation theme. These settings are stored in your browser under the keys theme and colourTheme.

Local storage is different from a browser cookie. Based on our current technical review, these settings are used to remember your chosen display preference and are not used by T.A.E.I.L. for advertising, analytics, behavioural profiling, cross-site tracking, or identity verification.

We have not currently identified a website analytics tool, advertising pixel, marketing tracker, social-media tracking tool, or cookie-consent technology in the reviewed public website build. We are continuing to verify the live technical environment, including any provider-level technical identifiers or security measures. If we add non-essential analytics, advertising, marketing, social-media, replay, heat-map, or similar technology, we will review the change and update our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy before it goes live.

Third-party services and disclosures

We use service providers to operate the current public website and email contact channel. Based on our current technical and operational record, these include:

  • Namecheap shared hosting for the current public website.
  • Namecheap Private Email for the contact@taeilcommunity.org mailbox.
  • Microsoft Outlook services used by the founder to access that mailbox and reduce the risk of missed correspondence.
  • Google Fonts, which the website loads from Google’s font infrastructure to display selected typefaces.

When your browser loads a Google Font, it makes a request to Google’s font infrastructure. When you email us, your message may be processed through the email providers described above. Service providers may process information as needed to provide their services, meet legal obligations, secure their systems, or address technical problems, subject to their own terms and privacy practices.

We may also disclose information where reasonably necessary to respond to a legal requirement, protect people’s safety, investigate suspected misuse of the website, establish or defend legal claims, or support a future professional adviser acting under appropriate confidentiality obligations.

We do not currently sell personal information or provide it to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.

Why we use information

We use the limited information we currently receive to:

  • Read, respond to, and manage direct email enquiries.
  • Consider legitimate partnership, governance, advisory, operational, or general project communications.
  • Maintain basic technical security, performance, and operation of the public website.
  • Meet applicable legal, record-keeping, safety, and accountability obligations.

We do not currently use public-website personal information to operate a live crowdfunding campaign, process payments, sell membership, send a newsletter, create public profiles, or conduct behavioural advertising because those services are not currently active through the reviewed public website.

How long we keep information

We aim to keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including responding to an enquiry, maintaining a legitimate business or project record, addressing a safety concern, or meeting a legal obligation.

T.A.E.I.L. has not yet adopted final category-specific retention periods for public-email correspondence, provider logs, or future platform data. We will develop and publish clearer retention and deletion practices as the organisation incorporates and its operations mature.

You should avoid sending highly sensitive information through ordinary email unless it is necessary. The current public contact address is not an emergency or crisis service and is not intended to receive time-critical welfare, medical, legal, identity-verification, payment, or legacy-message information.

International and cross-border processing

T.A.E.I.L.’s intended legal home is Canada, while its founders are currently based in China. The current public website is hosted through a shared-hosting provider, and the physical hosting region has not yet been confirmed. The public contact mailbox is provided through Namecheap Private Email and accessed through Microsoft Outlook services. The website also loads Google Fonts.

As a result, information may be processed, stored, or accessed in countries other than the country where you are located, including where T.A.E.I.L.’s founders or service providers operate. Privacy laws and protections can differ between jurisdictions.

We are documenting these arrangements and intend to apply reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information and service involved. We will update this policy as our hosting region, technical architecture, provider arrangements, and incorporated governance structure are confirmed.

Your requests and choices

You may contact us to ask about personal information you have sent to us by email, to request correction of information that is inaccurate, or to request deletion where appropriate. We will consider requests in good faith and respond as reasonably practicable, subject to legal obligations, legitimate record-keeping needs, safety concerns, and technical limitations.

To make a request or ask a privacy question, email contact@taeilcommunity.org with “Privacy” in the subject line. We may need to take reasonable steps to verify that a request comes from the relevant person before acting on it.

Future member services

T.A.E.I.L. intends to develop additional services only after appropriate safeguarding, technical, privacy, legal, and governance work is complete. Those future services may include member-controlled Sanctuary/Memorial spaces, legacy messages, Point Person permissions, community features, preparation tools, and other sensitive functions.

The current intended direction is a two-domain, one-organisation model: taeilcommunity.org may serve public/community-facing learning and connection, while taeil.life may support member-controlled Sanctuary and Remembrance spaces. This is a future direction, not a service currently operating.

Before any future member platform launches, T.A.E.I.L. will need a separate, expanded privacy framework addressing the relevant data, permissions, consent, security, retention, deletion, identity verification, safeguarding, post-death instructions, guest access, and cross-domain access controls. Sanctuary content is intended to be private by default; member discoverability, if introduced, will not itself grant access to a Sanctuary.

Children, safeguarding, and urgent help

The current public informational website is not intended to collect personal information from children through forms or member accounts. The future platform may involve minors, guardianship, vulnerable users, grief, death, and other high-risk information. Those areas require dedicated safeguarding and privacy controls before any member service opens.

T.A.E.I.L. is not a crisis hotline, emergency service, therapist, clinical-care provider, or emergency-monitoring service. If you are in immediate danger, having suicidal thoughts, or unable to stay safe, use local emergency or crisis services right away. International support options are available through findahelpline.com.

Security and changes

We take reasonable steps appropriate to the current pre-launch informational website to protect information we receive. However, no website, email system, or internet transmission can be guaranteed fully secure. The current public website should not be used to submit highly sensitive or time-critical information.

We may update this Privacy Policy as T.A.E.I.L.’s legal status, technical infrastructure, website features, service providers, or operations change. We will revise the date and version at the top when we make material changes.

This Privacy Policy is a pre-incorporation draft for T.A.E.I.L.’s current public informational website. It is not legal advice and remains subject to Canadian legal review before publication or reliance. It does not govern a future member platform, Sanctuary/Memorial service, crowdfunding campaign, payment service, or other feature that has not yet launched.
