1. About T.A.E.I.L.

What is T.A.E.I.L.?

T.A.E.I.L. stands for The Afterlife Eternal: Immortal Legacy. It is pronounced “tale.”

It is a pre-registration Canadian not-for-profit social enterprise built around self-reflection, life celebration, remembrance, practical preparation, grief, and mutual care. While born from personal loss, its operational center of gravity is for the living: empowering people to reflect honestly on their lives, celebrate personal milestones, plan their future paths, and learn with compassion from the lives and wisdom of those who came before.

What does the name mean?

It also spells the name of founder Jesse H. C. Lee’s father, Tae Il, whose lonely death is one of the deepest reasons this enterprise exists.

Who is T.A.E.I.L. for?

• People living active, thoughtful lives who want a quiet, private mirror to evaluate their journey, celebrate personal victories, and consciously plan their future life trajectory.
• Descendants, children, and learners who want to reflect on the real lives of parents and ancestors—learning with compassion from their triumphs, virtues, mistakes, and shortcomings.
• People who are grieving and want somewhere dignified to remember, reflect, and stay connected without being rushed through their pain.
• People approaching the end of life or living with isolation who want trusted community, practical preparation, and dignity.
• Parents and partners who want to leave love, practical guidance, and milestone messages behind intentionally.
• People who believe organizations should be run with integrity—with capped wage ratios, living-wage guarantees, and radical transparency.

Is T.A.E.I.L. live yet?

Not yet. T.A.E.I.L. is in its pre-incorporation, pre-launch build phase. It intends to incorporate as a Canadian federal non-profit under the CNCA before any crowdfunding campaign launches or contributions are accepted.

What will people be able to do on T.A.E.I.L.?

The core personal platform (taeil.life) provides dedicated spaces built for the living:

Every member may create a Sanctuary, a Memorial, or both. The wider vision includes Circle of Care, the Beliefs & Traditions Library, Member Stories, a Resources Directory, The Cleanse, and The Members' Voice.

What is the difference between a Visitor, a User, and a Member?

• Visitors can explore all public information on taeilcommunity.org without an account.
• Users will be verified adult account holders who may participate in community features: discussion forums, Shared Reflections, request-and-accept messaging, Circle of Care mutual-care groups, people discovery according to privacy settings, and our verified Garage Sale used-item listing space.
• Members will be verified Users with an active membership entitlement, who may also use the sensitive personal services on taeil.life: Sanctuary, Memorial, Cherished Moments, Message from the Afterlife, When the Time Comes, and the Passing Notification Network.

The initial User and Member model is adult-only. None of these account systems currently exist; this describes the planned future access model.

What will community participation look like?

T.A.E.I.L. is planning a future authenticated community layer for verified Users and Members on taeilcommunity.org, expected to include a community forum, Shared Reflections, direct messaging that begins only after the recipient accepts a request, Circle of Care mutual-care groups, privacy-led people search, and a Garage Sale used-item listing space.

Community features will require an eligible verified account. They will not open until moderation, reporting, safety, privacy, and safeguarding foundations are in place.

What is Garage Sale?

Garage Sale is a planned future feature where verified Users and Members can offer used items they no longer need to other verified community participants — similar to a neighborhood physical garage sale, but online.

Participants will remain responsible for their own listings, descriptions, payment, collection or delivery arrangements, safety, and legal compliance. T.A.E.I.L. does not intend to hold funds, provide escrow, arrange shipping, or guarantee transactions at launch, and a listing will never publicly display a seller's home address, phone number, email, or legal name. Only a broad, seller-chosen collection area is intended to appear publicly. Garage Sale is not currently operational.

Will I need to prove my identity?

The planned future model uses tiered real-name verification for Users and Members before community participation and Member services. Verification is intended to support mutual accountability — it is not a guarantee of anyone's honesty or safety, and it will not make your legal name public. Users and Members will be able to use a chosen display name, and each person controls their own privacy and discoverability settings.

Can people find me in a search?

Only according to your own future discoverability settings. The intended options are: public, visible only to the logged-in community, visible only to your private circles, or not searchable at all — with not searchable as the default until you choose otherwise.

Being findable never grants access. Appearing in a search result, being connected through a Circle of Care group, posting in Shared Reflections, or holding a link will never itself let anyone see your Sanctuary, Memorial, or other private content. Access to private content always requires your explicit, recorded permission.

2. Legal & Structure

Is T.A.E.I.L. a charity?

Not currently, and not by accident. T.A.E.I.L. intends to incorporate as a Canadian federal non-profit under the CNCA, without CRA registered-charity status. It will not describe contributions as tax-deductible unless and until that status is lawfully available and explicitly confirmed.

Why isn’t T.A.E.I.L. registering as a charity?

T.A.E.I.L. wants to show that an organisation can be built to genuinely serve people and society without depending on registered-charity status to prove it. Membership is a direct social contract — you become a member of the community and its future platform — rather than a tax-motivated donation. This does not change T.A.E.I.L.’s not-for-profit legal structure: there are still no shareholders, no equity investors, no dividends, and no conventional exit.

Why is Canada the legal home?

The confirmed Phase 1 legal home is Canada. This reflects Founder/CEO Jesse H. C. Lee’s Canadian citizenship, the origin story of Tae Il’s death in Canada, and practical incorporation and banking considerations for an internationally based founding team. Executive Co-Founder Bruno Roda is based in China and holds Portuguese citizenship.

Is T.A.E.I.L. for-profit?

No. T.A.E.I.L. is being designed as a mission-protected not-for-profit: no shareholders, equity investors, dividends, or conventional startup-style exit.

3. Membership, Costs & Fair Compensation

How much will membership cost once T.A.E.I.L. is live?

The current planning model begins standard membership at CAD $12 a year, equivalent to CAD $1 a month. Every membership tier has one flat price. T.A.E.I.L. also commits to publishing its estimated real cost per member openly across its scale curve.

This figure is planning information, not a live offer. Final prices, tiers, benefits, and terms will be published only after the Platform Gate — incorporation, organisation banking, payment-processor confirmation, and Canadian legal review — is complete.

Members who voluntarily choose a higher membership tier are not buying extra governance control. Higher tiers help cover the real cost of running the platform for members who choose the floor tier.

How does T.A.E.I.L. decide what to pay its people?

We reject the extreme pay disparities common in corporate tech:

• Every role is benchmarked to Canadian non-profit and technology sector averages and medians.
• Executive pay is strictly capped to 100% of benchmark midpoint (CEO at CAD $133,000; COO at CAD $125,500).
• Leadership and technical delivery (Technical Lead / Head of Engineering at CAD $114,700) receive 110%, and professional support staff receive 120%.
• No bonuses, stock options, or equity grants exist.
• During the 3-month pre-launch build, executive founders work at a shared transitional rate of CAD $65,000/yr pro-rated ($16,250 each).

Will donors or higher membership tiers get governance power?

No. Founding recognition is welcome. Constitutional capture is not.

Will membership tiers and prices be public soon?

Membership tiers are under review. Their legal form, campaign compatibility, prices, benefits, refund treatment, and campaign mechanics will be published only after platform confirmation and Canadian legal review. They are not yet a live offer.

What is a Founding Member?

A Founding Member is anyone who joins any membership tier during the pre-launch campaign phase. Founding Members permanently receive a Founding Member recognition badge next to their name. This is recognition only; it does not carry governance power, equity, trustee authority, or access to another person's private content.

4. Funding & Campaign Status

What will the first funding be used for?

The proposed minimum funding plan (CAD $520,000) is intended to support:

• Safeguarding first
• Canadian federal non-profit incorporation and corporate banking setup
• Core platform MVP build and launch
• Fair leadership and Technical Lead delivery
• One year of essential Canadian cloud operations, holding a dedicated CAD $300,000 operating liquidity reserve

The proposed stretch plan (CAD $1,400,000) adds a full twelve-role team: CFO, three Feature Owners, Designated Safeguarding Lead, HR Lead, Community Care & Trust Lead, and support specialists.

Is there a campaign target?

For internal planning, T.A.E.I.L. is working with a proposed CAD $520,000 gross minimum and CAD $1,400,000 gross stretch target under an all-or-nothing model (presumptive on FundRazr). These are references for planning, not fixed commitments. They are subject to final budget validation, processor verification, and Canadian legal review; they are not yet a live fundraising offer.

How can someone support T.A.E.I.L. right now?

You can follow the build, offer relevant professional expertise, express interest in governance or partnerships, and return for confirmed campaign information when platform confirmation and Canadian legal review are complete.

5. Safeguarding & Support

What does safeguarding-first mean?

T.A.E.I.L. will not open to Members, Users, or any authenticated community feature until safeguarding foundations are in place: independent safeguarding oversight, written policies, moderation and escalation processes, identity-verification exception handling, and protections for vulnerable users and minors.

Is T.A.E.I.L. a crisis hotline or therapy service?

What is A.N.G.E.L.?

A.N.G.E.L. stands for Afterlife Navigation, Grief Empowerment & Legacy. It is an ethical assistive AI framework helping members organize memories, articulate values, and navigate practical checklists under strict safeguarding boundaries. A.N.G.E.L. is designed as a support aid, not a destination: it actively encourages members toward genuine human connection through the community, and is not a clinical service, crisis line, or emergency monitor.

6. Our Journey

When will T.A.E.I.L. launch?

There is not yet a fixed public launch date. Timing depends on incorporation, banking, funding, legal and platform confirmation, safeguarding readiness, and technical build milestones.

What makes T.A.E.I.L. different from other platforms?

It combines active empowerment for the living with dignified post-death support: conscious self-reflection, compassionate reflection on loved ones' virtues and mistakes, pre-death practical preparation, an accessible $12/year floor, open wage caps, and a permanently mission-protected Canadian non-profit structure.
